Although the initial target application for an innovative product is essential to the process of creation, a new invention can find significant applications transcending their intended purpose, as evidenced by the computer, the fax machine and the Internet. Therefore, breakthroughs should not be constrained to their initial applications.

A visitor to Epcot '95 in Orlando, FL, enjoyed a ride that simulates a flying carpet. Some who try the virtual reality ride get motion sickness. The ride is one of the new offerings from the Imagineering Lab at Disney World.
