Extrusion pointers
Article Abstract:
Aluminium extrusions have a number of advantages in applications which traditionally use steel. The advantages relate mainly to weight-reduction, cost-saving and reduction of preliminary operations. Extrusions can, for example, be a cost-effective option when they are used in place of steel which would need drilling and fitting to form a structure. The use of aluminium extrusions can also significantly reduce the number of welds when they are used to form a structure which is complex in cross-section, and would use a larger number of steel parts.

Cycle chains advance to the next level
Article Abstract:
Bicycle technology company, Fix Free Drives, has developed a chain drive which allows cyclists to have both a fixed and free wheel sprocket. It is controllable from the handle bar switch and this is useful for people with disabilities. The company has now improved the chain drive by making it with Derailleur type gears. Warwick University is interested in the technology because it hopes to use it to improve the Sinclair C5 electric vehicle.
