Article Abstract:

The standard for accreditation bodies requires each accredited job to publish a document that listed each parameter the lab can calibrate together with the range of values that can be dealt with and a specialized statement of uncertainty called the best measurement capability (BMC). The uncertainty might be important when the customer uses the instrument but the calibration laboratory does not have any control over the environment to which it is applied.

Getting to the root of it all

Article Abstract:

The issue of nonconformance when identified by an internal audit, a customer complaint or accreditation auditor is documented, a root cause analysis is performed, corrective action is taken to address the root cause and finally the result is monitored for effectiveness. Further some possible reasons for nonconformance is described.

Measuring the land

Article Abstract:

The entire economic development of the United States is based on land grants and sales and the financial impact of land surveying is detailed. Every year all the surveyors are required to calibrate their electronic distance measuring equipment against the baseline and the accuracy of such baselines is usually found to be perfect.
