Greenwich lean time: Sir John Egan's lean construction techniques are alive and well on site at the Millennium Dome

Article Abstract:

New champion of the Millennium Dome, Lord Falconer, has promised that the project will be ready in time for the new millennium. The Dome is actually a hugh stressed cable net structure, with a ring of 100 m tall masts supporting a net of steel cables, onto which a fabric roof is attached. The building services design is by consulting engineer Buro Happold, with the challenge of providing adequate power when the actual exhibits are not known. LV switchboards will provide power for the exhibits and Power Style III 1v were chosen for their flexibility.
