Article Abstract:

It is important to have a full understanding of the factors that affect problem solving and decision making. Research in this area has developed a seven-stage model and procedures for improving team performance. The basic elements of tools used in reaching decisions and solving problems are problem definition, data collection to determine the cause of the problem, solution generation and action planning. It is possible to categorize problem solving and the resulting decisions as simple or complex. Managing problem solving and decision making plays a key role in ensuring a company's competitiveness.
