An increasing number of chemical processing companies has begun forming empowered or self-directed work teams to complete specific tasks. They have realized the benefits that work teams offer, including improved flexibility, cost reduction and faster response to changing business needs. For chemical companies which have yet to adopt this management style, several steps are given to ensure the success of implementation of self-managed teams.
