Mismatched management techniques

Article Abstract:

Total quality management (TQM) and management by objectives (MBO) are two distinct and effective management concepts. Combining the two styles, however, could lead to more harm than good. MBO relies on specific performance targets while TQM dwells on process management. The blending of these two techniques into a single doctrine can foster a less than optimal organization consisting of very efficient personnel and departments.
