Mystery moves out of mixing

Article Abstract:

The Fluid Mixing Processes (FMP) consortium is a collaborative research program that carries out research into areas agreed upon by a steering committee of its members. It has tested 12 different impellers and 13 internal combinations in tanks of up to 2.7 m in diameter, mixing Newtonian liquids with Reynolds numbers ranging from 100 to 2,000,000. The resarch program has led to the development of reliable correlations to predict mixing times over the turbulent and transitional flow ranges.
