PLC rewrites rules on size

Article Abstract:

A fully functional PLC the size of an audio cassette box has been developed, also incorporating board-to-board connectors to absorb misalignment and two-point-contact. The use of PLCs in control environments is becoming more prevalent, but they are substantial in size compared to other electrical ancillaries. With smaller PLCs there will be less need for large control structures and interfaces on the shop floor. The small size does not affect performance and the unit tested excelled against competitors's units in terms of speed, function, maintenance and memory.
