Pharmaceuticals NESHAP finalized

Article Abstract:

The Environmental Protection Agency's proposed amendments to the Pharmaceuticals Production NESHAP were approved and became effective on Aug 29, 2000. The amendments contain several changes including the revision of the definition of process, streamlining of recordkeeping and reporting requirements for facilities complying with the alternative standard and the clarification of the transformation of intermediate to pharmaceutical chemical.

Pulping chemical recovery NESHAP finalized

Article Abstract:

The US Enviromental Protection Agency has issued regulation for hazardous air pollutants for chemical recovery processes at pulp mills, effective March 13, 2001. The national emission standards, which cover gaseous organic and metal hazardous air pollutants, is applicable for all kraft, soda, sulfite and stand-alone semichemical pulp mills. The standards vary depending on the emission point and whether the facility is existing or new.

NESHAP proposed for cellulose products manufacturing

Article Abstract:

The Environmental Protection Agency has proposed putting facilities manufacturing miscellaneous cellulose products such as rayon, cellulosic sponges and cellophane under the regulation of the National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants. The agency reasons that the move will significantly reduce emissions of air toxics from cellulose products manufacturing.
