Price fixing in the memory market

Article Abstract:

The U.S. Department of justice is looking into allegations of price fixing in the memory industry for more than two years. Infineon Technologies AG, headquartered in Munich, Germany, agreed to plead guilty to participating in an international conspiracy to fix prices for dynamic random-access memories (DRAM) sold to PC and server makers in the US from July 1999 to June 2002.

Intel makes a big jump in computer math: long the ugly stepchild of computer arithmetic, division is getting a much needed makeover

Article Abstract:

Intel's Penryn 45-nanometer processor is the first substantial upgrade in the microprocessors' divider since the Pentium in 1993. The new divider computes four bits in each step from the original two bits and is expected to make a substantial difference to financial and scientific computing.
