On futures thinking: trends, scenarios, visions, and strategies
Article Abstract:
A technique developed by the Alternative Futures Associates and its parent company, the Institute for Alternative Futures, uses trends, alternative scenarios, vision, and strategies to shape a preferred future. Trends of conflicting type are identified and monitored to develop scenarios. The scenario matching the preferred future leads to a vision. The vision is then translated into reality by using strategies. The American Society for Quality Control Futures Project developed scenarios for the future of quality management using this technique.
