The virtual factory approach to quality education
Article Abstract:
Not all companies have the necessary experience with ISO 9000 and QS-9000 standards, and few have the spare time and money to put into prolonged learning processes. The American Society for Quality (ASQ) has introduced a virtual factory as part of a course, which simulates the behaviour of a real factory, although at an accelerated paced. Graduate business programs often use games whereby future managers can allocate resources and see immediately the results of their actions.

The Transformations to Quality Organizations program is increasingly effective in facilitating quality management throughout business and industry. Under the management of the National Science Foundation. Leadership Steering Committee and American Society for Quality, it actively encourages universities and industries to participate in research programs and quality project implementations.
