Statistical process control (SPC) is being used throughout all facets of manufacturing in a wide variety of industries. The use of computers in the development of a successful SPC programs is essential because computers can analyze the data gathered during the manufacturing process and then disperse information throughout the company. The development of software programs directly applicable to SPC data can provide major benefits to a company.

Quality measures spark sales at Falk

Milwaukee, WI-based Falk Corp is an industrial manufacturing firm which puts a premium on quality and customer satisfaction. The firm's practice of statistical process control has made it a favorite and respected name in the industry. Falk recently formed a new administrative group, called the Omnicenter, to streamline operations. The new group generated a 6% sales gain and posted a 50% profit margin.

Article Abstract:
Locke Manufacturing Co of Woburn, MA, which makes aircraft parts, uses a statistical process control (SPC) program with special computer software to reduce scrap, rework and repair. The program has proven so successful that it will pay for itself within one year. A description of Locke Manufacturing's quality control program is presented.
