Scales and read heads air micro-machining

Article Abstract:

Special scales and read heads are used by researches at the University of Southampton, United Kingdom, to provide crucial positioning for micro-machining. The four-axis sample stage incorporates a linear encoder and read head system, a piezo-ceramic motor housed within a vacuum casing and mounted on a high-stability platform to isolate the system from external vibrations.
