Selecting an ISO 9000 registrar

Article Abstract:

The International Organization for Standardization's (ISO) procedures for securing certification in its ISO 9000 standards are explained. These procedures, which many US companies have found confusing, are designed to harmonize technical regulations in the members states of the EC and the European Free Trade Assn. Companies are required to secure ISO 9000certification if they wish to be registered as having complied with mandatory European laws concerning conformity assessment processes. US companies can turn to accredited ISO registrars for advice on compliance issues.

ISO 9000 and supplier quality assurance

Article Abstract:

The increasing importance of total quality system certification known as the ISO 9000 represents the start of better relationships between suppliers and customers. The promotion of trust between the two parties can also lead to better productivity and efficiency. The ISO 9000 cannot be ignored by any firm since this standard has the potential to replace existing standards from suppliers. Failure to meet the ISO 9000 might mean the loss of substantial market share.
