Charge! EVs power up for the long haul
Article Abstract:
The electric-vehicle industry hopes to enter mainstream by developing standardized charging stations as common and as safe as gas stations. There are two main issues to address in EV charging. First is safety to consumers when linking the vehicle to a power source, and the second is the vehicle's physical link to the supply network. Currently, there are two methods that have been developed to connect a vehicle to the supply network. The first is the inductive coupler technology and the second is the conductive ac/dc-coupled system.
