Setting preventive maintenance schedules when data are sparse
Article Abstract:
A preventive maintenance selection model evaluates problems associated with scheduling preventive maintenance activities for manufacturing systems with incomplete historical data. The model considers the Bayesian approach and the Akaike-Schwarz information criterion to determine an optimal PM interval for after-maintenance operations when failure-time observations are limited. The decisions in accordance to the Bayesian approach showed optimality when the model's assumptions are accurate and when based on the routine probability theory.

Performance modeling of multistage production systems operating under hybrid push/pull control
Article Abstract:
The production system of a hair dryer manufacturer is evaluated as a discrete time Markovian process by considering various push, pull or hybrid push/pull systems. System performance is defined in terms of average inventory, profit and loss from sales and optimal production rate. General conditions show that push policies are better than pull policies in terms of optimal production control.
