Surface-mount synthesizer operates to 2.5 GHz

Article Abstract:

Princeton Electronic Systems (PES) of Princeton, NJ, has come up with a PSA series of surface-mount synthesizers that offer low phase noise and wide tuning flexibility for a wide range of wireless uses. The synthesizers' sources are set to 2.5 GHz with a phase noise of -86 dBc/Hz at 10-kHz offset and. The synthesizers incorporate PES' high-performance phase-locked-loop chip and miniature voltage-controlled oscillator. One surface-mount synthesizer carries a 14-b reference counter, a phase comparator, three-line digital interface, divider network, loop filter, 19-b data register, 18-b N counter, and other components.

Radio receiver IC reduces system costs

Article Abstract:

MICREL Semiconductors of San Jose, CA, is offering its MICRF001 complementary-metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) integrated circuit (IC) as a cost-effective alternative to RF-to-baseband transducers in the 300-MHz-to-400MHz ultra-high-frequency (UHF) bandwidth. The single-chip RF receiver, the company's first RF device, functions as a complete radio receiver contained in a single chip. MICREL's MICRF001 can be used with either an inductor-capacitor (LC) or a surface-acoustic-wave (SAW)-based transmitters.

Modulator/synthesizer features low spurious content

Article Abstract:

Texas Instruments Inc. of Dallas, TX, offers the TRF3040 RF transmit modulator/synthesizer integrated circuit, which enables original equipment manufacturers of mobile-phone equipment to meet requirements for dual-band and dual-mode personal-communications-services (PCS) and cellular telephone units. The TRF3040 RF transmit modulator/synthesizer integrated circuit can be equipped into mobile telephone units that run in North America's 1.9-Gigahertz PCS band and 900-Millihertz cellular band.
