Several American firms are adopting a strategic approach which emphasizes on quality control, allowing them to assume leadership roles in marketing. The areas of modern quality competence for dealing with consumer's demands for quality include defining of customer quality requirements in a comprehensible manner, integrating quality strategies within a company's business planning, identifying relevant quality management approaches, providing strong expertise in quality systems management, and comprehending important planning and control activities.

Making quality managers: redefining management's role

Article Abstract:

Quality improvement depends much on the development of a vision, strategic planning and processing customer feedback. However, enthusiasm for quality improvement is not enough to secure quality conditions. Management plays a key role in maintaining any degree of enthusiasm and completing the quality process. Thus, companies must have competent managers to ensure quality improvement and gain competitive advantage in the market.
