The molecular biology of aging
Article Abstract:
Avoiding senescence may be getting closer now that technology that can help in retention of youthfulness and based on molecular biology/molecular genetics exists according to a representative of AGI Dermatics, a biopharmaceutical company specializing in DNA repair technology. The best understood model for aging may be photoaging, usually thought of as it relates to skin and ultraviolet light. Topics include reaching the maximum lifespan, the body's ways of combatting aging, perspective for the future, and cells, genetic mutations, and aging.

Two reagents in one
Article Abstract:
A new addition to the tandem reactions class has been found in the transformation of o-halobenzonitriles to l-(dialkylamino)benzylamines using lithium (dialkylamino)borohydride (LAB) reagents. The o-halobenzonitriles can be changed into corresponding aminobenzylamines with versatile new amination-reduction reagents. The LAB reagent promotes substitution of the amine on the carbon with the halogen and reduction of the nitrile as well. The tandem reaction product is obtained after a simple aqueous workup.
