Through the Looking Glass

Article Abstract:

The battle between the Long Island Lighting Co. (Lilco) and Suffolk County, NY, in which its Shoreham nuclear power station is located, is typical of the problems the nuclear power industry is having today. A fact-finding commission underscored the problems of safety and economic problems of nuclear power in a report on the plant. The panel found many unusual conditions in the Shoreham facility.

Article Abstract:

The only preservation of historical artifacts of importance to the development of computers is done by companies interested in public relations. There are very few computer museums, and those that do exist are specialized into a particular discipline. There is a need for a comprehensive effort in dealing with possibly valuable electrotechnological items.
