Viewpoint: let's do tissue engineering right
Article Abstract:
Tissue engineering is a new field of medicine that employs a combination of cell biology and materials science to repair abnormal structures and replace functions. This sector is expected to grow into a billion-dollar industry in the future as more and more people begin to appreciate its clinical benefits. However, biomedical engineers need to establish standards of fabrication technology for 'living medical products' to make tissue engineering a cost-effective therapy.
