Waste wonder
Article Abstract:
Petroleum company Ultramar Diamond Shamrock Corp of San Antonio, TX, has installed a waste-water-heat-powered ammonia-absorption refrigeration unit (ARU) at its Denver oil refinery. The ARU produces 85 tons of refrigeration at -25 degrees C to refrigerate the refinery's reformer plant net gas and treat gas, to recover liquefied petroleum gas. It is powered by 290 degrees F waste heat from the refinery's reform reactor effluent.
