What should learning organizations learn?

Article Abstract:

The emerging paradigm called technoservice for learning organizations is introduced. In the new model, companies are continually learning from customers, employees and other companies. This is in contrast with the old paradigm where learning pertained to training sales and production workers at the frontline, after which minimal further improvement in performance is expected. The new model is necessary in managing the transition from stable mass markets and mass output to a customer-responsive market and continuous information and communication technology innovations.

Making values work

Article Abstract:

The development of shared corporate values is important because they result in consistent behavior, provide a basis for trust and lessens transaction costs within a firm. Some employees, however, are cynical about statements of corporate values because they did not participate in their development. Organizational values can be developed through a dialogue which forms a shared logic of the behavior needed for organizational success, educates people about the organization as a social system, enhances communication and trust and develops leadership.
