An analysis of the Tatshenshini-Alsek wilderness preservation decision

Article Abstract:

An analysis of a major wilderness preservation controversy relating to the Tatshenshini-Alsek area in north-western British Columbia, is presented. Structured judgements about fundamental objectives and potential impacts were used to gain an insight into the complex policy decision. Decision analysis was used and a workshop investigated views about trade-offs involved in the decision.

Monitoring and modeling walking track impacts in the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area, Australia

Article Abstract:

A program is developed for monitoring the condition of unimproved walking tracks on a 1000-km track system in Western Tasmania, which is used as the basis of an eight-year study of track-impact development. The implications of this program for the ongoing monitoring, siting, and management of walking tracks are discussed.

Monitoring the performance and decline of heritage trees in urban Hong Kong

Article Abstract:

A study monitors the loss of urban trees in Hong - Kong during two periods, 1993 - 1998 and 1999 - 2003. The predisposing causes were injuries sustained in roadwork and construction activities, both related to root damage and soil disturbance.
