Are polyphagous geometrid moths with flightless females adapted to budburst phenology of local host species?
Article Abstract:
A study on the ability of three polyphagous geometrid moths with flightless adult females to synchronise their egg hatching with the budburst of a local host species in north east Scotland is presented. Subtle differences in life history strategies, such as egg size, leads to differences in selection pressures and explains the discrepancy observed in local adaptability of these moth species, which are otherwise biologically very similar.

The effects of plant quality on caterpillar growth and defense against natural enemies
Article Abstract:
A community of caterpillars and their host plants from a tropical moist forest in Panama are examined to determine the effects of host plant defense and nutrition on herbivore growth rates and defenses against natural enemies. The effects of plant secondary metabolites and nutrients dictate herbivore growth rates, which in turn influences their susceptibility to the third trophic level and the importance of defenses.

Does anti-parasitoid defense explain host-plant selection by a polyphagous caterpillar?
Article Abstract:
The interaction of host-plant quality and a tachinid parasitoid affects the survival and host-plant selection by a polyphagous herbivore. There was an increase in the survival of parasitized caterpillars on acceptable but nutritionally inferior host-plant species.
