E.I. du Pont de Nemours and Company Inc is the leading producer of chlorofluorocarbons, one of the leading causes of ozone depletion in the world. It has perenially manipulated its environmental policy to safeguard its profits and has embarked on an effective public relations program to counteract claims made by environmentally aware groups. It has also manipulated political figures to maintain the company's edge in the industry inspite of groups similar to Greenpeace.

Cancer starts here: the poisoning of American begins in Louisiana
Article Abstract:
The high concentration of vinyl industry plants in Louisiana and the amount of toxic pollutants they release have created cancer clusters, or geographic locations with cancer rates high above averages in other areas. A treaty to ban 12 of these toxins will be presented by the United Nations for ratification in May 2001.
