CO2 enrichment and carbon partitioning to phenolics: Do plant responses accord better with the protein competition or the growth-differentiation

Article Abstract:

A study that was carried out to document CO2-induced phenotypic plasticity in whole-plant carbon partitioning and to evaluate the results that the fundamental predictions of extended growth/differentiation balance model (GDB(sub e)) and protein competition model (PCM) is discussed. It is suggested that CO2 enrichment simulated pathway-wide increase in carbon partitioning to phenylpropanoids.

Trickle-down effects of above-ground tropic cascades on the soil food web

Article Abstract:

An experiment consisting of model synthesized communities containing grassland plant and invertebrate species is conducted. The aim is to investigate, using a model glasshouse system, how consumption of foliar herbivores by their predators affects the producer subsystems, and how this in turn influences each of three consumer trophic levels of a previously characterized soil food sea.

Negative plant-soil feedback and species coexistence

Article Abstract:

Simulation by an individual-based competition model show how the intensity of negative feedback on individual plant performance can produce faster successional dynamics and allow species coexistence in two and multi species systems. The results show that even low levels of negative plant-soil feedback can enable species co-existence and often produce cyclic population dynamics.
