Comparative dynamics of small mammals populations in treefall gaps and surrounding understorey within Amazonian rainforest

Article Abstract:

In the Amazon food resource availability in eleven treefall gaps and paired understorey habitats were quantified and used feeding experiments to test if two common terrestrial rodents would perceive differences between habitats. Results suggest the presence of source-sink dynamics in a tropical gap-understorey landscape, where two rodentsE species perceive habitats differently.

Estimating rates of local extinction and colonization in colonial species and an extension to the metapopulation and community levels

Article Abstract:

Two general approaches for the modeling and analysis of colony dynamics for sampling situations are defined and developed. A general probabilistic model for the data and a constrain model parameters based on various hypotheses about colony dynamics for both approaches was developed

Relative species richness and community completeness: birds and urbanization in the Mid-Atlantic states

Article Abstract:

Research shows a negative correlation between urban development levels and avian species richness. Data were obtained by combining a list of regional bird species for the Mid-Atlantic states and site estimates of number of species present using a capture-recapture model.
