Compensatory growth of the African dwarf shrub Indigofera spinosa follwoing simulated herbivory
Article Abstract:
Research in northwestern Kenya indicates that the arid zone dwarf shrub Indigofera spinosa responds to herbivory and seasonal use through a combination of compensatory growth and tolerance. Temporal studies show that while full-year grazing is unsustainable, light grazing regimes during the dry and wet seasons is manageable.

Controls of grass and shrub aboveground production in the Patagonian Steppe
Article Abstract:
A new model is presented describing aboveground net primary production in arid ecosystems, which includes the separation of functional types. The model is applied to Patagonia's Occidental District, and distinguishes between climatic variables from precipitation and from precipitation and temperature.

Grass-to-grass protection from grazing in a semi-arid steppe. Facilitation, competition, and mass effect
Article Abstract:
The spatial association between a highly palatable Patagonian grass is examined. The results suggest the facilitation, competition and mass effects that maintain the population at relatively high density.
