Do individual plant species show predictable responses to nitrogen addition across multiple experiments?

Article Abstract:

A dataset of 20 herbaceous species that are each represented in at least 6 different fertilization experiments is assembled to test whether responses are general across experiments. The findings led to conclude that though the responses of individual species to nitrogen addition are often predictable, these responses are functions of the abiotic or biotic environment, in most cases.

The importance of importance

Article Abstract:

The appropriate application of metrics of importance and intensity is integral to investigating key theories in plant community ecology and how ignoring this distinction has lead to confusion and possibly spurious conclusions are examined. The relationship between competition intensity and importance for individuals across gradients is explored.

Effects of epiphytic lichens on host preference of the vascular epiphyte Tillandsia usneoides

Article Abstract:

Research indicates that diversity and structure of epiphytes, or air plants, are a result not only of host-tree attributes, but also of interactions among epiphytic communities. Studies were conducted on the growth of Tillandsia usneoides in specific tree species, and abundancies were correlated with nonvascular epiphytes.
