Experimental evidence of a tripartite mutualism: bacteria protect ant fungus gardens from specialized parasites.

Article Abstract:

The importance of a third mutualist within the ancient symbiosis between leaf-cutting ants and their fungal cultivars is examined. The role of a filamentous bacterium (actinomycete) that is typically carried on the cuticle of fungus growing ants in suppressing the growth of a specialized microfungal parasite (Escovopsis) of the fungus garden is examined.

Testing whether any of the significant tests within a table are indeed significant

Article Abstract:

The process of multiple statistical testing in ecological research is discussed. A Fisher's combination test for combining independent P-values is conducted and it is found that at least one of the two loci with individual P-values smaller than 0.05 is indeed significant.
