Fecal counts of lungworm larvae and reproductive effort in bighorn sheep, Ovis canadensis

Article Abstract:

An investigation on whether individual differences in fecal output of lungworm larvae (LPG) in bighorn sheep, Ovis canadensis are related to reproductive effort and to individual characteristics such as body mass and age is presented. Results reveal that while age or mass had no affect on LPG for either sex, females that weaned a lamb had higher counts than females that did not produce a lamb.

Components of breeding performance in two competing species: Habitat heterogeneity, individual quality and density-dependence

Article Abstract:

The relative contribution of habitat heterogeneity and bird quality on the productivity of two species is accessed using two long-term monitored populations. Productivity varied among territories and average annual productivity is negatively related to its variability in both species and populations, thus giving some support to the habitat heterogeneity hypothesis.
