Tax planning with trusts: still useful?
Article Abstract:
Australia's Tax Consultative Task Force is reviewing trusts in light of tax reforms. Despite a few trusts being taxable, the majority are not, and they continue to be useful planning tools and to provide funds and loans for beneficiaries from business assets. One trust option is discretionary trusts as partners, although accountants must be careful not split personal service income when structuring the trust.
