Metapopulation viability analysis of the bog fritillary butterfly using RAMAS/GIS
Article Abstract:
The population viability analysis is used to examine the viability of the bog fritillary butterfly Proclossiana eunomia Esper, a specialist glacial relict species, in a highly fragmented landscape with the help of RAMAS/GIS 3.0. The population growth rate was density-dependent and was modulated by various climatic variables acting on different developmental stages of the butterfly.

Using surrogate data in population viability analysis: The case of the critically endangered cranberry fritillary butterfly
Article Abstract:
The use of a generalisation strategy to bypass certain limitations is proposed. Management measures for an endangered metapopulation of the cranberry fritillary butterfly in the Netherlands are evaluated with RAMAS/GIS by using parameters estimated from a healthier metapopulation in Belgium.

Modelling mortality and dispersal: consequences of parameter generalisation on metapopulation dynamics
Article Abstract:
The loss and fragmentation of the natural habitants faced by the species all over the world by human activities are discussed. The metapopulation paradigm is an operational framework for predicting the long-term persistence of species living in highly fragmented landscapes.
