Mixed-stock analysis of Atlantic cod near the Gulf of St. Lawrence based on microsatellite DNA
Article Abstract:
Fishery management strategies are presented based on the genetic makeup of cod stocks of Gadus morhua in the northwest Atlantic Ocean. Cod contributions from the Cape Breton Island region, the eastern Scotian Shelf and southwest and south-central Newfoundland were found to be 3%, 14%, and 12% respectively, while contributions from Fortune and Placentia Bays were negligible.
