Predicting recycling scheme performance: a process simulation approach
Article Abstract:
A mathematical model of solid waste recycling that is capable of predicting levels of individual participation in the recovery scheme and the amount of material recovered by the participant is presented. The model, which uses a process simulation technique, was tested on a curbside newspaper collection scheme in Fylde, Lancashire, UK, and was proven to suit all aspects of recycling behavior. The potential application of the model to the design and planning of future recycling schemes is discussed.

Modelling individual behaviour and group performance in an intelligent agent-based simulation of the tragedy of the commons
Article Abstract:
Models of natural resource management application should include the human systems associated with that resource. A human systems model with natural resource management implications has been developed, using data from previously documented common-pool resource (CPR) experiments. The subjects were presented with a situation where they could choose to invest tokens in two markets. The simulations performed similarly to groups of human subjects in CPR laboratory studies.
