Redundancy and response diversity of functional groups: Implications for the resilience of coral reefs
Article Abstract:
The role of diversity within functional groups in securing important ecosystem processes that contribute to the resilience of coral-dominated reef states is focused. It is suggested that understanding the various parameters within functional groups will increase the ability to assess ecological insurance and make more accurate judgments of what extractions can be made without jeopardizing the resilience of coral-dominated states.

Population dynamics and survival of an endangered wallaby: a comparison of four methods
Article Abstract:
Mark-resight, mark-recapture, radio-tagging and line-transect methods were used and compared in managing the endangered wallaby Onychogalea fraenata, or bridled nailtail wallaby. The method found to be least biased was line-transect, as other methods relied on techniques which could produce variations, such as vegetation conditions and population size.

A regional model to predict coral population dynamics in response to El Nino-Southern Oscillation
Article Abstract:
A model to predict coral reef recovery after an El Nino-Southern Oscillation (ENSO) event is tested, using a comparison between Panamanian and Ecuadorian islands. The model proved more accurate in predicting Panamanian island responses, suggesting that estimates of upwelling need to be reassessed to improve the model's accuracy.
