The dirty truth about natural gas
Article Abstract:
The use of natural gas has been touted by the industrial sector yet current ecological problems such as global warming, are partly caused by natural gas. The gas, with its high methane content, has been found to be at least 20 times more potent than carbon dioxide. Aside from the environmental problems it generates, the gas has an adverse effect on the national economy. In Japan and Germany, research has been focused on the development of renewable sources of energy. It is hoped that the US government will revise its environmental policies and follow the Japanese and German research models.

Article Abstract:
George Bush will be remembered as the US president who repealed many laws that could save the ecology in favor of economic benefits. A prime example of his irresponsible actions is the possiblederegulation of the Endangered Species Act which has very little economic impact. US Vice Pres Dan Quayle repealed the Clean Air Act requirement requiring industry to report increasing emissions to the public. This and otheractions show that Pres Bush cares little about the environmental movement.

Article Abstract:
The Bush administration has kept its promise of preventing the loss of wetlands only by redefining wetlands. A coalition of development interests cast itself as a grassroots political group and circulated stories of bureaucratic injustice caused by wetlands protection laws. At the urging of this National Wetlands Coalition, the administration pressured the EPA to adopt a more restrictive definition of wetlands.
