The management and control of dry rot: a survey of practitioners' views and experiences
Article Abstract:
Research undertaken in May 1998 and Jun 1998 in Scotland into the knowledge and perception of remedial treatment companies, architects, Historic Scotland architects and building surveyors about dry rot has revealed several misunderstandings among building practitioners about dry rot attacks. These include the view that only softwoods are attacked by the dry rot fungus Serpula lacrymans. Researchers asked participants to consider five different treatment methods: environmental control, remedial chemical treatment, biological control, heat treatment and physical protection and isolation systems. Practitioners favoured the usual chemical treatment method.

Use of an adaptive kernel home-range estimator in a GIS environment to calculate habitat use
Article Abstract:
The seasonal habitat use of white-tailed deer was quantified from a home-range estimator by employing an adaptive kernel technique and compared with relocation point data from Sand Lake National Wildlife Refuge, Brown County, SD, between Jan 1, 1993 and Jun 27, 1994. The purpose of the study was to ascertain if an adaptive home-range estimator is similar to traditional methods of calculating habitat use. The results are discussed.
