Using pattern-oriented modeling for revealing hidden information: a key for reconciling ecological theory and application

Article Abstract:

A step-by-step protocol for the application of pattern-oriented approach is provided and is illustrated with the help of three population models from applied ecology. The use of this approach is advocated as it may substantially improve models in ecological application and conservation.

Implication of climate change for the persistence of raptors in arid savanna

Article Abstract:

The potential impact of precipitation variation caused by climate change on raptors in arid savanna is investigated. The slight modifications in the inter-annual variation of environmental parameters have dramatic consequences for population persistence.
