Article Abstract:
A project that would convert Spectacle Island from an eyesore to the gateway for Boston Harbor Island national park area, with the help of manufactured topsoil enriched by compost, is highlighted. This project provides an example of the value of compost in creating high quality, plant-nurturing topsoil.

Several techniques are presented for using air flow to separate plastics from end product screening of municipal solid waste. These include horizontal orientation with conveyor, trommel screens with louvers and roll-off containers, and airlocks with blowers and cyclone separators.
