Congressional environment agenda in limbo following attacks

Several hearings and meetings on the congressional agenda regarding energy and environmental issues have been postponed due to the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. Jim Jeffords, chairman for the Environment & Public Works Committee, promised full support of the committee's resources to aid in the recovery and clean-up efforts resulting from the attacks.

Democrats quickly fold on funding environmental farm projects
Article Abstract:
Democrats in the Senate discontinued plans to fund over $500 million in emergency agriculture spending for environmental projects. Environmentalists and farming organizations have voiced concern that the Senate's feeble effort to gain support for funding may be repeated in the reauthorization of the farm bill.
