Managing manure on Japanese livestock and poultry farms

Composting has become Japan's primary treatment method for manure waste generated by beef cattle, dairy cattle, and pigs. Composting methods include the pile type, which is turned by shovel loaders for forced aeration, the open type, which turns compost by conveyor belt, and the enclosed vertical type, which mixes compost with moving paddles.
