Maximum Recycling MRF
Article Abstract:
A maximum recycling system, the Solid Waste Management Corporation, is being set up by RRT/Recycle America under a contract with state owned materials recovery facility (MRF) in 39 municipalities of Rhode Island. The recycling will begin including other materials such as scrap metal, textiles, wood and paint cans instead of concentrating on curbside materials only. The expansion will include improvements in general facilities and working conditions, and better paper sorting lines and commingled system. The contract will help the recycling plant sustain itself economically.

What's the outlook for paper?
Article Abstract:
The recycled paper market in 1994 and 1995 showed instability but its long-range future is good. During those past years, it was affected by negative mill capacity, operating rates, recovery rates, recycled feedstock supply and weather. Price spikes in those years were largely caused by exports. Deinked market pulp, made from recycled office paper waste, comprises the large growth sector. It is sold to stationery and printing paper mills. However, worldwide demand for recycled paper is expected to be 150 million tons in 2000 AD.
