Multicounty cooperation: backyard bin promotion brings in the buyers
Article Abstract:
Intra-State Recycling Corp, through the leadership of compost instructor Kathy Powell, launched a 5-county, compost making/selling project in Wisconsin. Powell encouraged residents of Portage County who attended her composting seminars to make compost in their own backyards. Five neighboring counties commenced advertising on the products in March 1998 and by the end of April, order reservations in excess of available stock were already being received. Refuse agencies in Adams, Marathon and Waupaca counties handled the orders and deliveries.
