Article Abstract:

The Energy Policy Act of 2005, which focuses on increasing supplies of traditional fuels such as oil, coal and natural gas is not expected to reduce energy prices but takes some steps toward diversifying the transportation sector away from its near-total reliance on petroleum by offering incentives for use of alternative fuels. Record high oil and natural gas prices plus growing concerns about US dependence on foreign energy created momentum for agreement on final bill.

National Energy Commission report endorses biofuels

Article Abstract:

The US National Commission on Energy Policy in a report recommended policies to address energy security, exposure to fuel shortages and price shocks, an aging infrastructure, and the environmental impacts of energy production and use - particularly the risk of global climate change. The report, however, got quick rejections on both ends of the political spectrum.
