Negotiating an agreement on global warming: a theoretical analysis
Article Abstract:
The result of the international negotiation on preventing global warming may be evaluated through the use of a two-country bargaining model. Several parameters that may influence the outcome of such negotiations, such as welfare level at the disagreement point and populations size, also provide substantial elaboration on the enforcement issue. The concluding remarks indicate that such environmental negotiations may be resolved through the implementation of a tax-transfer that will result into Pareto efficient production and consumption, a system which may be enforced through a punishment mechanism that includes the threat of suspension of the agreement.

An equilibrium framework for global pollution problems
Article Abstract:
Worldwide pollution problems are examined from the perspective of the benefit strategy for public cost allocation. A cost-share equilibrium is presented together with conditions where the equilibrium benefits all parties. The possible negative elements of the optimum abatement vector are also considered. A means for implementation is also presented, where positive abatement levels are yielded by its Nash equilibrium under certain conditions.
