Pathogen destruction and biosolids composting
Article Abstract:
Systematic monitoring and operating practices can maximize the use of biosolids and provide a pathogen free compost of high quality. Pathogen inactivation determination involves monitoring of temperature-time, indicators organisms and pathogens. Composting industry and the Environmental Protection Agency need to develop an index for correlating bacterial pathogen regrowth capacity to compost stability. The US composting industry must comply with federal biosolids technical regulations 40 CFR Part 503.

Tunnel composting biosolids and yard trimmings
Article Abstract:
The Ipswich Borough Council, located 75 northeast of London, England, developed a partnership with Anglia Water, a water treatment company, to comply with government mandates on biosolids treatment options. The companies began to work on their mutually beneficial partnership by managing a 4.5-acre site called Cliff Quay, a composting plant. The plant's composting process includes a biofilter media which has been in operation since 1997 and shows no signs of reduced efficiency.
